The conference, coming to Atlanta 19-23 May, unveils the latest in robotic technology
The IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) is the world’s foremost event aimed at advancing the field of robotics. Live demos at the ICRA Expo (25+) and exhibit (140 exhibitors) deliver the latest in robotic technology from the world’s top experts and leading robotics organizations.
ICRA Expo
Wed., 21 May, 1 pm – 5 pm EDT
EMBARGOED UNTIL WED., 21 MAY
Georgia World Congress Center Exhibition Hall
Featuring, among others, the following research prototype robots being explored by major R&D units:
- Kid COSMO: A Humanoid Robot Movie Character (video) – A team from the University of California, Los Angeles, demonstrates COSMO, the humanoid robot developed for Netflix’s film The Electric State, which conveys expressive, character-driven behavior through motion and speech.
- Hopcopter – The Most Agile Jumping Robot (video) – Researchers from the City University of Hong Kong and HopTo Technology Co. showcase an innovative hybrid robot that both hops and flies efficiently.
- Major Tom (video) – Ground Control Robotics, in collaboration with researchers from the Georgia Institute of Technology, reveal a five-link myriapod (Major Tom), which is a low-cost, all-terrestrial alternative for weeding, pest control, and agricultural data collection.
- Design of an Articulated Modular Caterpillar Using Spherical Linkages (video) – Researchers from the University of Notre Dame introduce an articulated modular caterpillar robot able to turn, lift body segments off the ground, and manipulate objects.
- Light Following Robophysical Space Rover With Closed-Loop Gait Strategies at Granular Slope (video) – A team from the Georgia Institute of Technology presents a robophysical rover model with a new gait capable of moving laterally while moving forward, enabling advancement over uneven terrain.
