ICRA Competitions demonstrate robotic advancements for caregiving, autonomous racing, household tasks, and more
Taking place 19-23 May at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) is the world’s foremost event aimed at advancing the field of robotics.
Demonstrating the latest in robotics technology development, ICRA competitions are designed to solve real-world challenges and advance robotics for societal needs.
ICRA 2025 Competitions include:
- The Barn Challenge 2025 – Robots will compete in a series of obstacle courses designed to test the capacity of robotic navigation.
- Robotic Grasping and Manipulation Competition – Robots will vie to effectively assemble and disassemble boards, pour liquids into a cup, rearrange and set formal tables, fold and unfold cloths, and much more.
- PhyRC: Physical Robotic Caregiving Challenge – Robots will compete via caregiving tasks, including assisted dressing and bed bathing.
- Quadruped Robot Challenges (QRC) – Quadruped robots compete in multiple robot collaboration tasks, including dynamic obstacles and real-time perception.
- The 24th Roboracer Autonomous Grand Prix Competition – Teams will build a 1:10 scaled autonomous race car and write software for this scaled race car to avoid collision, minimize lap time, and overtake all opponents. Finalists will compete in a head-to-head race.
- The 4th Robotic Sim2Real Challenges – Simulators will support robots in mobile manipulation and flying.
- AI Olympics With RealAIGym: Towards Global Policies for Swing up in the Real World – Participants will leverage advanced algorithms to compete in robot responses to external disturbances.
- What Bimanual Teleoperation and Learning from Demonstration Can Do (WBCD) – Participants will use robotic techniques including puppeteering, VR, exoskeleton, hand-held grippers, movement-tracking gloves, or algorithmic human handsensing to perform manipulation tasks.
- Earth Rover Challenge 2 – Participants will review the efforts of a large fleet of outdoor navigation robots deployed across multiple cities to evaluate the success of open-world autonomous navigation models.
All competitions are open to the media, and the majority of the competition action takes place at scheduled increments over 20-22 May at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
