Launched in January 2018, a group of leaders from academia, industry, and social impact sectors united to focus on “Creating Opportunity for LatinX in AI.” This initiative aims to elevate LatinX representation in AI and address the biases that permeate machine learning, ultimately benefiting our communities. As the number of Hispanic and LatinX AI practitioners grows, it is crucial that we have opportunities to share our work at global AI conferences, unlocking opportunities for collaboration, funding, and career advancement.
For ICRA, our specific goal is to enhance networking opportunities within the Latin American and Hispanic communities and broader community, particularly in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence, and to foster greater engagement in these areas. IEEE’s mission to foster technological innovation and excellence to benefit humanity requires the talents and perspectives of people with many disciplinary backgrounds.
